Why choose midwifery care? With the current state of maternity care in the United States midwifery is an increasingly popular topic. Midwifery care returns control to the expectant family. Women who have midwifery care, on average, have longer prenatal consultations with providers that are well versed in medicinal and alternative health therapeutics supporting a physiological pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum.

 

What exactly is a midwife

Midwives are trained healthcare providers who specialize in normal pregnancy, birth, and postpartum for women and families. We believe in the design and power of a woman’s body to grow and birth her baby. Working with a licensed midwife, provides integrative care and true continuity of care.

The risk of cesarean section is drastically lowered with good midwifery care, as is the need for interventions in pregnancy and labor.

The midwifery model of care

Midwifery care is founded on the principal that pregnancy and birth and normal life processes. It’s application has been proven to reduce incidence of birth trauma, injury and surgical birth.

Empowering and educating women in the capabilities of their body, nutrition, and health to help maintain a low risk nature and thriving health.

Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support

Monitoring the physical, psychological, and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle

Minimizing technological interventions

Identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention

A planned home birth with a skilled and Licensed Midwife has been shown to be a safe option for low-risk women, and limits unnecessary intervention.
